Friends of Sway Station (FOSS). We are Sway residents who have volunteered to support our local railway and its links with our community.
We work with South Western Railway and Network Rail to make sure the facilities at the station are as good as they can be. We have the support also of Sway Parish Council.
The most obvious sign of this contribution is in the general smartening of the appearance of the station and the planting and upkeep of the flower and shrub beds on the platforms.
Station “friends” are national community initiatives that creates a sense of community ownership of station facilities and helps to ensure the facilities appear smart and are an asset to the community.
FOSS started in 2012. Installation of station planters, improved lighting on the approach and, short term parking spaces are some of the improvements achieved.
Over the years a team of keen volunteers have maintained the planters and created attractive seasonal floral displays, giving a real buzz to the station’s appearance.
We are always keen to welcome new members. If you can help then why not join FOSS. Please see our Get Involved page. If you have “green fingers” you would be especially welcome but whatever your skills or enthusiasm do think about joining and supporting our key public transport hub.
