We were delighted to be awarded £1500 from the national Community Rail Network fund and £1500 matching funding from the New Forest Community Rail partnership for artwork at Sway.
The artwork, which will be created by Spudworks in Sway, will enhance the appearance and environment of Sway Station with a stunning new mural,
hand-painted by local artists, as part of a bid to regenerate the area.
Rail passengers will be greeted by a vibrant ‘Have a Sway Day’ mural, with New Forest horses and ponies as a key part of the design. The central concept is to bring elements of the New Forest into the mural, as a celebration of the local environment.
The mural will be on one side of the station, but as funds allow there is huge scope to continue the design on the other side as well. It will be a fresh and bold mural that celebrates the beauty of Sway’s environment and the animals that live there. The mural will be on a panel to be fixed to the fencing.
